Entain Foundation supports Romanes in promoting Wheelchair Rugby (WR) in Italy

I-Wheel Training Camp, the Entain Foundation CSR Award winning Romanes Wheelchair Rugby project run in partnership with Martin Castrogiovanni's Castro Rugby Academy, has just successfully concluded in the setting of Piancavallo (PN).

The highly specialized Camp, which aims to grow the Wheelchair Rugby (WR) movement in Italy, gave fans, athletes and staff of this discipline the extraordinary opportunity to train with athletes belonging to some of the most prestigious WR teams on the European scene, under the technical direction of Olivier Cusin, coach of France WR in three different editions of the Paralympics.

In particular, the initiative's technical program, aimed at promoting participants' individual and team growth, provided them with a thorough understanding of the rules of the game, helping them recognize and enhance their abilities and encouraging them to maximize their potential in the sport.

"In wheelchair rugby, the game never stops." - Said Valerio Bernabò, Chief Operating Officer of Romanes Wheelchair Rugby ."And the week of the I-WHEEL Training Camp that just ended was exactly like that, on and off the field: 18 hours of training in the gym between physical preparation and technical sessions, 10 hours of in-depth classroom sessions (game tactics, regulations, mindfulness and coaching), 262 able-bodied children from the Castro Rugby Academy who climbed into our wheelchairs and lived in close contact with our athletes. This is the world we had envisioned and, thanks to the support and enthusiasm of the Entain Foundation, it became reality. We take home a huge baggage of memories, precious moments of sharing. The smiling faces of staff, players and children, though tested by fatigue, reinforce the conviction that we are pushing our wheelchairs in the right direction, that of sports serving the common good."

"The Entain Foundation is proud to support the Romanes in the important work of promoting Wheelchair Rugby in Italy. The I-Wheel Training Camp, winner of the Foundation's CSR Award, is an extraordinary example of how the practice of sports can teach everyone to make the best use of their abilities to achieve important goals, as individuals or by joining forces to express the best team play." - Commented Andrea Faelli, Ceo of Eurobet Italia and head of Entain Group companies in Italy . "We will continue to be committed to promoting sport as a creator of opportunities and inclusion, and to raise awareness about valuing diversity so that everyone has the chance to develop and realize their talents."
